Le catalogue américain de la Console Virtuelle sera mis à jour aujourd'hui avec trois nouveaux titres : le shoot'em up Gradius (500 points / 5 €), un titre NES dispo depuis un bail au Japon, et deux jeux PC Engine à 600 points pièce (6 €), Soldier Blade et Dungeon Explorer, un Action- RPG dont les joueurs européens avaient eu la primeur.
Sony Online Entertainment a annoncé l'acquisition des droits pour adapter et commercialiser six classiques de l'éditeur américain Midway sur le PlayStation Store de la PS3. Ces jeux seront mis en téléchargement payant sur le service en ligne de la console de Sony, avec un premier titre programmé pour début 2007. Les six jeux sélectionnés sont Mortal Kombat II, Gauntlet II, Joust, Rampage : World Tour, Rampart et Championship Sprint, des titres choisis nous dit-on pour leurs dispositions aux parties multijoueur, ce dont personne ne doute. C'est d'ailleurs pour cette raison que l'on retrouve déjà Joust ou un autre Mortal Kombat sur Xbox Live Arcade...

Sony Online Entertainment released a press release today, announcing that they had licensed six classic arcade games from Midway Games for their Playstation Network. These games, which will be downloadable from Sony and would be stored on the PS3's hard drive, will include the classic MK title Mortal Kombat II! From the press release:

Sony Online Entertainment, (SOE) a global leader in the online gaming industry, announced that it has licensed the rights from Midway Home Entertainment Inc., a leading interactive entertainment industry publisher and developer, to develop and release six classic Midway games for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. The games will be available for digital download through the PLAYSTATION® Network; with the first game being available in early 2007.

The six downloadable titles are: Mortal Kombat® II, Gauntlet®II, Joust®, Rampage World
Tour®, Rampart® and Championship Sprint®. Each title was specifically chosen because of its multiplayer capability, allowing players to experience each of these classics with their friends in the comfort of their own living room, or anywhere else through an internet connection. All of the titles will be offered for PLAYSTATION 3 system download exclusively through the PLAYSTATION Network.


“We knew these titles would be a perfect fit for the PLAYSTATION Network, and based on Sony Online Entertainment’s legacy in the online space as well as their intimate knowledge of the PLAYSTATION Network, it was an obvious decision they would be a top company to work with to bring this project to fruition,” said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway.

The press release doesn't give any firm information on a release date other than "early 2007". We'll
be keeping an eye on this story; as soon as we learn more (especially pricing and a release date), we'll be sure to report it here!

10.01.07 - Konami soll die Arbeit an fünf PS3-Spielen angeblich eingestellt haben. Das schreibt die Famitsu. Demnach sollen folgende Projekte wohl nicht mehr erscheinen:

- Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu
- Neues Actionspiel
- Neues Rollenspiel

Konami a peut-être un petit coup de fatigue, ou un petit coup de blues après avoir dû changé le nom d'Elebits pour l'Europe ! plusieurs projets viennent d'être annulés, si l'on en croit un tout récent article d'IGN consacré à la line-up de l'éditeur japonais.

La PS3 et la Wii sont les deux consoles qui souffrent de ces annulations de jeux, avec 4 annulations pour la console de Sony et de 2 jeux pour la Wii :
- Gradius Series (PS3)


Les informations sont parues dans le Famitsu de cette semaine, où on n'a toutefois trouvé aucune explication : peut-être les jeux n'étaient-ils que des embryons de jeux pour lesquels l'éditeur n'a eu aucun état d'âme. Ce léger changement permettra certainement de travailler sur les titres restant un peu plus sérieusement, avec plus de moyens pour ces jeux auxquels Konami peut promettre le succès dans les mois qui viennent

Sega vient d'annoncer le jeu Crazy Taxi : Fare Wars sur PSP. Dévoilé ici avec une première série d'images, ce jeu de course arcade reprendra le contenu des deux épisodes sortis sur Dreamcast avec un mode deux joueurs inédit en bonus. Les nombreux mini-jeux du deuxième épisode seront aussi de retour, mais il faudra les débloquer dans l'ordre pour pouvoir tous les essayer. Le titre est actuellement en cours de développement chez Sniper Studios et devrait sortir dans le courant de l'été 2007.

We've talked about Jingi Storm quite a lot here...that's the stripping game from Atrativa, spinoff of Yuki Enterprise, of Samurai Shodown V fame. The Atrativa site seems to be down now, so maybe it's a failed experiment. Anyway, there hasn't been much info on it recently, though the game was released in full to japanese arcades. Alex went and found it though, and has done a review of it, which reveals that there is no stripping at all in the final game! Most curious. He also discovered that the game is basically a modified version of Sammy's ill-fated Force Five for the Atomiswave (scroll to the bottom for the pics).

Nice find - here's a quip from the review: "So a game that was announced by Sammy for the AtomisWave back in 2003 is finally released in late 2006 for the Naomi, with heavy cosmetic changes and lacking AW-NET support, and without its originally touted stripping feature, by a virtually unknown and somewhat shady publisher run by the same person who runs Yuki Enteprise. Now all I want to know is where to find the blood money and the dead bodies."

crithit5000 mailed me this some days ago, a direct link to Shin'en's Nanostray 2 trailer. While it still looks nice, the engine and graphics don't seem quite as advanced as when the first came out. That said, looks like a fun shooter, and if the mandatory touch screen weapon swap is out (which the screens seem to indicate), it should be quite enjoyable.

Shin'en has been busily working on licensed titles in the meantime as well. Here's Miss Spider's Harvest Time Hop and Fly, which frankly looks disturbing, and the upcoming Garfield's Nightmare, which is inexplicably in 3D. I'm sure that wasn't Shin'en's choice, as their 2D work is excellent.

Die auf 500 Einheiten begrenzte 'Limited Edition' wird in einem weißen Multipak mit Spinecard ausgeliefert und bietet neben der Spiele-CD auch eine Vinyl-CD mit einem erweiterten Soundtrack sowie einem OST-Booklet.

Laut redspotgames wird es keine Nachproduktion geben, jedoch könnten nicht bezahlte Vorbestellungen nach einigen Wochen zurückgezogen werden. Ebenso ist die reguläre Version noch im Handel erhältlich.

e PlayStation Store japonais proposera dès demain 18 janvier de nouvelles skins gratuites pour personnaliser ses véhicules favoris de Ridge Racer 7. Aux trois premières planches d'autocollants déjà disponibles viendront s'ajouter de nouveaux Stickers Sets, qui auront pour thème .hack//G.U., Ace Combat 5, mais aussi des séries animées dont Namco Bandai détient la licence, à savoir Sôsei no Aquarion, Eureka Seven ou Code Geass. Le jeu s'offrira même un petit clin d'oeil aux petits personnages du soft Mainichi Issho, un titre de Sony uniquement disponible en téléchargement sur PS3 au Japon. Un échange de bons procédés, puisque Ridge Racer 7 fera lui l'objet d'un petit flash promotionnel dans le jeu de Sony, par le biais d'un poster du jeu et de son héroïne Reiko Nagase affiché dans la pièce de Toro, le petit chat-mascotte.

En attendant que de vrais hits certifiés débarquent, Sony continue d'exhumer d'anciens titres PSone pour garnir le PlayStation Store américain de la PS3. Déjà disponible pour 5,99$ (4,5 €), Rally Cross sera bientôt rejoint par deux autres titres, WipEout et Jet Rider, affichés au même prix. Rappelons que ces titres pourront ensuite être transférés sur PSP pour jouer grâce à l'émulation officielle. Sony a également prévu de vendre un patch multijoueur pour le jeu Blast Factor, au prix de 2,99 $ (2,30 €).
