Has any game had more spin-offs, re-releases, or compilations than the Street Fighter series? Nonetheless, we’re all back in line to play Capcom’s newest old fighting game, Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting for the Xbox 360’s Live Arcade. It’s finally downloadable on Microsoft’s test servers, but we still have no word on when the game will be hitting the masses. After playing through it, we may start to have an idea why.

rid pointed us to a new streaming trailer of Exelica, Warashi's new shooter (their newest since the PS2 Shienryu entry, which got into a D3 'shooting' two and one package some time ago). Admittedly, I hadn't seen the older ones either, so if you're the same, there are five movies for you to check out.

It's really nothing overly impressive, but Warashi generally does a solid job with whatever they undertake, and the oldschool character and ship design is rather nice. The capture and lock on modes are pretty unique in how they're used, though it looks like it would be a bit unwieldy in crowded levels. It's also rather interesting that Sega is publishing it. I wonder if that means a swifter port, or will it be relegated to D3 Publisher status again? If you still want more, check Warashi's Exelica page - they have some downloads too, in the form of wallpapers and flyers. The game is out in arcades now, on Naomi GD-rom.

Remember that new arcade stripping fighter we talked about a bit ago? Well, we've got a bit more info. On the main page there's an illustration of some of the playable characters, and the girls that strip when you beat them. Given the site's tendency to take images down and replace them, we're hosting it.
Next, the professor tells us that the developer has been revealed - it's a small company called Atrativa. People previously assumed it was Yuki Enterprise, creator of Samurai Spirits V. Well - perhaps they weren't so far off. If you check the chairman of Yuki against the representative director of Atrativa, you'll find they're the same person, plus they worked together to create the mahjong game touryuumon. They do have different physical office locations, so they may not be one and the same, but there are certainly some direct links there. Very curious!

Une compil Megadrive sur PS2 et PSP

Sega prépare une nouvelle compilation d'anciens jeux avec Genesis Collection pour PlayStation 2 et PSP. Prévue pour le mois de novembre, elle devrait proposer une grosse vingtaine de jeux dont quelques hits issus de séries comme Phantasy Star, Sonic et Shinobi. On y trouvera aussi trois volets de Golden Axe, la version 2D Virtua Fighter 2, Altered Beast et Ecco the Dolphin.

Microsoft n'aura aucun scrupule à sortir une compilation Xbox Live Arcade
Unplugged, qui comme son nom l'indique réunira sur une galette quelques-uns des jeux déjà en téléchargement sur Xbox Live Arcade. Prévu pour octobre aux Etats-Unis, le premier volume inclura Geometry Wars, Bejeweled 2 Deluxe, Outpost Kaloki X, Wik: Fable of Souls, Hardwood Backgammon et Texas Hold'Em Poker, le tout vendu 39,99 $. Une offre d'un mois d'abonnement gratuit au Xbox Live Gold sera également incluse. Sympa.

Plus qu'une petite semaine avant la sortie japonaise de Tekken : Dark Resurrection sur PSP ! Voilà pourquoi Namco Bandai laisse traîner la pub japonaise quelque part sur ses serveurs, une pub qui ne manque pas d'insister sur la présence d'un petit stick adhésif bonus pour la croix de la PSP. La version européenne sera quant à elle prête pour la rentrée.

Metal Slug 6 vient donc ajouter son nom sur la longue liste des jeux SNK Playmore retardé à quelques semaines de la sortie. Initialement prévue pour le 27 juillet au Japon, la version PS2 est désormais annoncée pour le mois d'août, sans plus de précisions.

Les fans de baston peuvent être rassurés, ils ont encore de belles heures de jeu devant eux. Les Anglais d'Ignition Entertainment se sont entendus avec SNK Playmore pour éditer de nouveaux titres sur le territoire européen. Du lourd, puisque The King of Fighters XI, KOF Maximum Impact 2, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, SNK Vs. Capcom : Card Fighters DS et Metal Slug Anthology sur Wii sont concernés, sans oublier "les premiers titres de SNK sur divers formats Next Gen". Il faudra cependant patienter pour davantage de détails, comme les plates-formes concernées, les prix et les dates de sortie.

Mortal Kombat 8 Is Under Development

GameDaily has published an interview with Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon. In it he confirms that the development of Mortal Kombat 8 has already begun. Here is a part of the article:

At this time I figured I should ask the one thing I've wanted to know since Armageddon was announced. I asked Boon when Mortal Kombat would be making its way to next generation consoles. With a smile Boon told me that the next Mortal Kombat (MK8 for now) will be on next generation consoles and they've already started work on it. It almost certainly won't be hitting next year, but it should be arriving sometime in 2008. In addition, the game will not use the same engine as Armageddon and the past few MK titles, so we'll be getting an all new Mortal Kombat.

Bandai diffuse quelques nouvelles images de Jojo's Bizarre Adventure : Phantom Blood sur PlayStation 2 dans le magazine japonais Shonen Jump. Sega au Japan Expo 2006

Sega nous annonce par le biais d'un communiqué de presse sa présence sur Paris du vendredi 7 au dimanche 9 juillet à l'occasion du Japan Expo 2006. Six titres seront donc présentés en versions jouables sur une trentaine de bornes PlayStation 2, GameCube, PSP et Xbox 360 accessibles à tous les visiteurs. Les joueurs auront donc la possibilité de découvrir Chromehounds, Super Monkey Ball Adventure, Yakuza, Phantasy Star Universe, Virtua Tennis 3 et Sonic the Hedgehog lors de ce salon. Un écran géant dédié à l'organisation de tournois et à la diffusion de trailers sera également de la partie.
